I love it when we are there, when the wait staff isn't drinking behind the bar!

we just had the most amazing experience here. Five star service and food all the way around! Ordered half dozen oysters. Best oysters we have ever had! Literally. Clam chowder...Fresh. Amazing and a unique flavor Shrimp po boy ...outrageously good Ceviche...literally out of this world...so fresh and flavorful and a nice big serving! We even got cheesecake and a brownie Sunday that were also heavenly. The service was superb. Few different people working together. Such an awesome experience!

Good food, fresh fish, long line, splurge-type prices. As you wait in line, you are immediately scoping out what food is already out for others seated near that line. It's an order-first-then-self-seat-with-number kind of place. Place gets crowded, so you need to turn on your grab-the-next-available-table-the-moment-they-Âstand-up-to-leave switch. As you eat, I hope it was worth the wait. Someone like me would over-order just so that I don't regret not getting something that would have been delicious but not worth getting back in line for it. Parking will be a little tougher since it's in Mission Hills. Remember to turn your wheel if you find street parking along a slope.

This place is just PLAIN FANTASTIC!!! I love their halibut ceviche, their tacos, calamari, their seafood soup. We came here for brunch once it it was WONDERFUL as well. Its one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. They have a good selection of beer, wine and solid HH. Their seafood is always fresh and service does everything you could ask for (from showing up and taking your order promptly to filling up your water and continuously checking on you). We have other neighborhood places like Luce, High Dive, Offshore or Dan Diegos. All of them are very good but at each of them we had moments of some disappointment, yet so far NEVER here at Bay Park Fish.

I found this restaurant by accident on Google Maps. This hidden restaurant is amazing. We had mussels, oysters and calamari for appetizers. My seared ahi tuna with jasmine rice was perfection. I highly recommend the halibut, it tasted like it was just caught that day - it was so fresh. I plan on returning many times on my next visits to San Diego.

My Swordfish Picatta for $28 was breaded, which took me by surprise. It came with mashed potatoes, 3 carrots and 3 asparagus. The entree was smothered in a rich caper butter sauce which I didn't enjoy. The buttery sauce was way too rich, and although the swordfish was tender, it was entirely too heavy, as it was breaded, fried, and surrounded by the butter sauce. I won't order this again. I might consider trying the grilled swordfish sandwich if I return. I've been to Bay Park Fish Company several times in recent years. It's never my first choice, but my mother enjoys it, and I'm happy to accompany her when she requests it. I sent my iced tea back, as it tasted a bit off and cloudy. It didn't taste fresh to me. This restaurant is a bit dingy and in need of a sprucing up and a remodel. It's located off Morena Blvd on Ashton Street. For $28 an entree, I can find excellent seafood in a more upscale atmosphere at other restaurants. Or I can find good seafood and a buzzy atmosphere in a gastropub, with better prices.

Bay Park Fish provides a pretty good happy hour. Certainly not the best I have encountered, but a good one worth checking out. They offer a line of draft beers for $1 off, and a few selected menu items: a list that also included basic sushi rolls. So after taking a sip out of my Kirin Light, I order a $3 happy hour grilled mahi mahi taco on a corn tortilla and a basic spicy salmon roll for $6. The mahi mahi fish taco was good, but it needed some more filling, and I am not referring to the fish, but more of the other ingredients, such as the shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, and that creamy white sauce. The mahi mahi was well prepared to a tender succulent touch, and was very lightly seasoned. The corn tortilla was good. The red salsa that came along the side was good. It had a nice mix of flavors and a small bite. The spicy salmon roll was impressive. It was simple yet provided some flavors and textures. To my great pleasure, the salmon was not chopped and minced, it was whole pieces and was quite good. The roll came stuffed with some crunchy micro greens and topped with a dab of a Sriracha blend hot sauce. Both were quite good and were the greens provided a nice clean texture and the hot sauce a little heat. It was a good roll and I really liked the sesame seed that dotted the rice of the rolls. I ate at the bar and service was pretty good. The girl who dropped by fish taco off at the bar was not much of a conversationalist, but the sushi chef was. To sum it up, it was overall a very good experience.

Been here about dozen times. Sometimes sat in dining room & other times at the bar. Gotta say that for the most part, this place is pretty solid with some real highs & a few lows. Love, love their ahi poke. They are super generous with the tuna & the quality of the fish is superb. Also am a fan of both the steamed clams in a white wine garlic broth & steamed mussels in coconut curry sauce. The ceviche & Kung poa calamari are also great. Their tacos are ok. The fish is super fresh but tortillas & accoutrements are just meh. Had the shrimp po boy & although the shrimp were large, cooked perfectly, it was bland. Seasoning the panko or shrimp prior to frying would be an easy fix. Service is inconsistent at times right on point and at other times just poor. Overall, I'll keep coming back but only order what I know works.

A Haiku Review of Bay Park Fish Co: Quite disappointing. Nice ambience and service... Fish was dry and bland.
(2)Tyson A.
The fish is so fresh and delicious. Good place to eat and take a date, fun atmosphere.

We used to come here pretty often. It's sad to see quality go down. We had the fried calamari, clams and the halibut sandwich. We always come back for the calamari and clams but they were too salty this time. The worst part of this meal was the customer service. Our server's name was Justin. We tried to call him over so he could take our order. However, he was talking to a friend or coworker, and he saw us, having only three tables in the room. He continued to ignore us while laughing to his friend. We then called over another employee and he was really unsatisfied about taking care of us. After the food, we were waiting for the bill. We called the same employee, seeing that he was facing us. He slowly turned around as if he didn't see while talking to Justin. They were literally ten feet away from us. We called a second time, having to raise our voice. We're really upset with the service more than anything and won't be returning.

Great place. The fish was super fresh. The drinks are strong, they have a good wine and beer selection. Great atmosphere along with great customer service. It has a locals feel to it. If you want great fresh fish, give em a shot!!!!
(4)Jenna B.
I enjoy this place very much! Best ceviche I've ever had. I've been multiple times and it's always nice service. While it is more pricey, everything I've gotten has always tastes fresh and of great quality...soI don't mind paying when it's worth it. Their sashimi salad is amazing! Such fresh gorgeous yellowtail (pic down below) and they never skimp on their avocado portions. They have a good happy hour so go and try the sushi, yum! Parking sucks but hey can't win em all!

Got the "sit anywhere" greeting. We sat. And sat. Then left and went to Luce next door where they were glad to see us.

This is a nice spot that has that old school feeling to it. You won't mistake the inside as it's a bright blue. Had some mussels, chowder, risotto and scallops here. The food textures were on point here. The bread was perfectly toasted, risotto was creamy and chowder was thick. The way the food is prepped here allows you to taste the pureness of the seafood. For those that don't enjoy this may claim it'll be underseasoned or bland.
(3)Melissa C.
Jackpot! Again a sushi chef who likes to get creative and will create a delicious roll as per request! The asides here are house made! Spicy and delicious. We came on taco Tuesday so scott enjoyed a blackened shrimp taco and a fish taco! The edamame spicy and garlicky with no butter! Delicious! This is a definite revisit.
(5)Michelle G.
My BF and I eat here frequently but this time the service was awful, the salmon was over cooked and 10 of my 20 clams were closed! This place is not cheap and I would have expected an offer from the waiter to compensate for the all the above but that didn't happen. I this we will find another spot for $75 lunch.
(1)Red P.
I really really want to love this place but the last two times I ate there...I will just say I had some really bad symptoms of food poisoning...Fish can be a particular type of food and if not kept or prepared right bad things can happen. I don't want to give this place a bad review because it really is a cool place but I won't be eating there anytime soon
(3)Aaron H.
I was very excited to come here. Liked the looks of the place, the area and a sucker for seafood. Menu needs some more options on different seafood, but still looks good. Too many sandwiches and regular meals on it. I go for the campechana and sangria. Sangria is dangerously good. So quenching and delicious. The campechana is a little different than I normally get. It comes out in a small bowl without the clamata and a plate of chips. Seafood was fresh and nicely balanced. Interesting sauce. I like this served with chips. Homegirl got the grilled tuna with spicy crab torta. Looks much better than anticipated. Tasted better than we expected. Just a little too big with extra fluff that takes away from the sandwich a little. Fries were a little boring and the coleslaw was too soggy from sitting too long. It's a shame, because it looked good with the purple cabbage twist they do. Great place to come on a nice day. Would like to see them extend their dinner hours a little and get more range of fish in here. Not cool there weren't oysters on the menu.
(3)David B.
Bay park fish co, it rocks. You gotta get the fish tacos and the Kung Pao calamari.....
(5)Sandy E.
LOVE this place. Food is always delicious, including their recently added weekend brunch. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. I wish their happy hour were longer, and parking were easier, but I genuinely cannot complain about the food or the service. I go here often.
(5)David C.
Besides their taco Tuesday where prices are reasonable, their prices are on the high side and tastes just alright. I can get better and tastier seafood and pay less elsewhere. Just off the top of my head: blue water seafood and grill. Point Loma seafood, etc.. But service was ok.

Exceptional meal tonight. Our server was so fun and bubbly. Smiles and laughter is such a great way to start a meal. My husband started with 5 piece Yellow Tail sashimi with chili oil and jalapeño and my father-in-law had the seafood soup. The sashimi was fresh and tasty. My father-in-law raved about the soup during the entire meal. For their main meal they both had a salad with an eight ounce piece of Yellow Tail for $15. Not only was it delish, it was an amazing price. I had the Macadamia Nut Encrusted Halibut with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus and carrots. The portion was large enough and so tasty that I shared with my 8 year old daughter and of course the guys had to take a bite or two. When ever we are in the Bay Park, we always dine here. If you like fish, I would highly recommend you check it out

Love this place at least for Happy Hour. Always end up eating way more than I should but man oh man can you get some good deals and good food. Was a little tentative with leaving review die to the fact that this place can get a little packed at happy hour and you end up hunting for a seat. With that said... Happy hour apps are really good. We had (our usual "meal")... Grilled fish tacos, ahi poke, ceviche, steamed mussels, and the spicy yellowtail sushi. We never finish it all but oh how I try. Fair selection of beers on tap. We love this place and for happy hour one of our favorites.

Dog friendly patio! Enjoyed Friday happy hour on the patio with the dog. Started off with the house Chardonnay and edamame in a garlic yum sauce. I'm a non-seafood eater and was pleased they has several options for me. For dinner I enjoyed the philly cheese steak (good portion for the price) served with a side of fries. Nice relaxed atmosphere & friendly service. I'd dine here again.

Would go back. Was in the mood for a light lunch. Tried their ahi poke and nigiri. All food. Friendly, attentive service. Busy little neighborhood place. Outdoor seating was great and dog friendly (always a plus)!
(4)Rachel A.
Had brunch here. Got a $10 carafe of mimosa (4 glasses), which must have been fairly champagne-y as we both were feeling the buzz. Got the carde asada and egg breakfast which had very delicious and flavorful beans, rice, pico de gallo, tortillas filling the large plate. My husband got the huevos rancheros which were also flavored very well with lots of sides filling the plate. Good atmosphere. Very nice, appropriately talkative waiter. And thankfully easy to get a table for a Saturday at 11am. Will definitely eat there again. Excited to try the fish dishes!
(4)Angelina M.
Place is amazing. Everything tastes so fresh. Try the oysters, ahi poke, calamari and clam chowder. Can't go wrong with any of those.
(4)William R.
Best fish tacos in San Diego. The calamari is pretty good too.
(5)Shawna D.
we had the ship cocktail, fish stew and the kale Caesar salad. Everything was really good. We ordered the brussel sprouts but had to send them back because we didn't know their was sugar in the glaze, however they tasted really good! Maybe text time when sugars in. Our server Moria, was great, very attentive, fast and took back our brussels with no problem. We will be back again soon
(4)Vicki E.
Great fresh fish. Everything here from soups, sandwiches, and tacos. Brunch served on Saturdays and Sunday's from 9-2. Wait staff is friendly. Parking can be difficult. Shrimp Caesar wrap is impressive. Different spin (but delicious) on their clam chowder - has a citrusy layer. Will be back.
(4)Robert B.
This place has gone down hill. The fish and chips were bland. The kung pao calamari had neither kung nor pao. The blackened shrimp burrito was ok. And they charge you for each refill off iced tea without telling you. Everyone has free iced tea refills guys. Has this placed changed ownership in the last few years? I do not recommend this place anymore.

Came here during my friend's lunch break because she works right across the street from this place. I got here right when it opened at 11:00am, and I'm glad because there was still plenty of street parking. By the time we finished lunch, parking was scarce! We were the first customers that day and got great service. The waitress kept checking back with us to make sure we're ok and to answer any questions and make suggestions. We started with the oysters on the half shell. I'm a sucker for these, and since it was really hot for an autumn day, the oysters were very refreshing. The price wasn't too bad -- maybe about $2 or so each, and they come by the half-dozen. My friend ordered the sashimi salad, and I ordered the half sandwich and soup combo: swordfish blta and a cup of their clam chowder. Sad to say, my lunch was only ok. I didn't hate it, but I was more into my conversation with my friend, and my food didn't wow me enough to make me notice anything special. If anything, the swordfish was a little dry. My friend's salad looked good, but was on the pricy side for the amount she got. I do like this place and the location it's at. I had a good time, the service was friendly, and the oysters were great. There will definitely be other visits because it's convenient for my friend and me, and I'd like to explore more of the menu. The appetizers do appeal to me more than the actual meals, so this could just be a snack place for me. They do have a happy hour from 3:00-6:00!

I would have given this place 5 stars except for the fish sandwich story. The place is a fish market so I fully expected perfect fish and that is what we got. I had the fish and chips which were great. Wife had the half sandwich and soup. The clam chowder had tons of clams and nice thickness. While ordering, wife was asked what fish for the sandwich, I wish they would have mentioned that ordering the halibut added $6 to the price. That seemed quite a lot for two strips of fish and the surprise was a disappointment after such an otherwise great experience. Seriously, I recommend this place.
(3)Malka W.
I have been a regular but it's hit or miss on the service and a few times including this last time, two of us said something was wrong with the food. Swordfish tasted like chicken and cerviche make my friend sick. From other reviews it looks like they are cutting back on quality control.
(2)Jan H.
Love this place but wish they had a,traditional Ceasars salad on the menu. they have a bay park style but it is not a Ceasars salad. I Have To Go To Other RESTA URANTS For a,Good Seafood ceasar
(3)Mercy B.
Was in the area and needed to eat something for lunch before going on another errand. I Yelped the area and this popped up. When a friend called and I told her where I was, she said, Oh I love that place, best fish tacos! I'm pretty burnt out on fish tacos and I had already ordered their shrimp po boy which also got good reviews. It was a delicious sammie and an even greater remaloude sauce with it. I had to order more sauce because well....I'm a SAUCY GIRL, so just get over it! Actually, it also tasted great on their shoestring fries. The shrimps was perfectly cooked and I did like the breading on it too. I look forward to coming back and trying some other dishes here. I'm so unfamiliar with that area, but there was also a new restau next door I want to try. I live in OB, so I'm not far from here, need to explore more. Service was good, no complaints.

This place has been a favorite of mine for years now. Iv tried everything on the menu and it's ALL absolutely delicious. ! My top favs Swordfish piccata Macadamian crusted Halibut Lobster Ravioli w/ Ahi filet But again, everything on the menu is delicious. Try the mussels or clams for an appetizer. YUM! Also a great place for sushi, the bar is great and they even have fish u can buy by the pound. Kuddos to the Chefs!
(5)Patrick L.
This is a tough one. The food is great - I have no complaints. The smoked fish salad torta was really tasty with a great mix of smokiness, tanginess, and a fantastic grilled bread. The fries are shoestring and cooked perfectly. The slaw is dry and uniquely flavored, not bad but odd. The clam chowder was rich, creamy, and chock-full-o meaty clams (like it should be) and though it had a surprising (slightly overpowering) amount of scallion it was still muy rico. Overall the food was four stars. But when I got the bill and saw it was $50 for our lunch 2 crabcakes, a basket of fries, 2 bowls of soup and a sandwich I sort of lost sight of the tasty food. Not that it was bad - just that it was not really a $50 meal experience. You know? Hard to explain. I like the place and would be back but only if someone else is paying becuase it'll be hard for me to enjoy the food at those high prices.
(3)Philip C.
We were customers when it opened. Loved the fish market when they had it. After a few bad meals we stopped going. Well friends persuaded us to return a couple of months ago and it is transformed. The stew and the chowder are amazing. The green chili burrito is as well. We love Taco Tuesday!!! Great neighborhood place. See you next Tuesday!
